42.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday (On-site role) Monday to Thursday: 7:30am – 5:00pm Friday: 7:30am – 2:00pm About the Role An established and highly skilled engineering company based in Coventry is seeking an experienced CNC Setter / Operator / Programmer to join its team. This role requires strong hands-on experience with Star sliding head CNC lathes and a solid working knowledge of Fanuc control systems, as all machines operate using Fanuc panels. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting, operating, and programming CNC machinery to produce high-precision components, ensuring exceptional quality, efficiency, and consistency at all times. Key Responsibilities Set, operate, and program CNC sliding head machines (primarily Star) Work confidently with Fanuc control systems across all machines Produce precision-engineered components to tight tolerances Ensure efficient machine operation and minimal downtime Carry out quality checks and inspections of finished parts Read and interpret engineering drawings accurately Maintain a clean and safe working environment Support continuous improvement in machining processes Essential Experience & Skills Minimum 5 years' experience in CNC setting and operating Strong experience with Star / Citizen sliding head CNC lathes Confident working with Fanuc control systems Experience with fixed head lathes (e.g. Doosan, Dugard, DMG) advantageous Strong understanding of CNC machining principles and tooling Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings CNC Milling experience is not relevant for this role and will not be considered due to differing technology focus Qualifications Completed a formal CNC or Engineering Apprenticeship (typically 2–4 years) Additional Information On-site position (within approximately a 30-mile commuting radius preferred) Free on-site parking 23 days holiday per year, plus bank holidays Company pension scheme Team size: 17 employees Supportive, precision-focused working environment About the Company The company is a trusted UK manufacturer of high-precision turned parts with over 50 years of experience delivering bespoke components to exacting standards.
