The company is currently seeking an experienced and qualified HGV Mechanic to join their team based in Kilmarnock. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out maintenance, servicing, diagnostics, inspections, and repairs on a fleet of vans, trucks, and trailers to ensure vehicles remain safe, compliant, and operational at all times. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated mechanic seeking a long-term permanent position within a fast-paced commercial vehicle environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs, vans, trucks, and trailers
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults efficiently
- Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance checks
- Complete MOT preparation work and ensure vehicles meet DVSA standards
- Repair and replace defective parts and components
- Maintain accurate service and repair records
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with health & safety regulations
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Support breakdown and emergency repair work when required
Required Experience:
- Minimum 2 years relevant experience working as an HGV Mechanic or Heavy Vehicle Technician
- Experience working on commercial vehicles including vans, trucks, and trailers
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities
- Good understanding of vehicle maintenance and repair procedures
Working Hours & Shift Pattern:
Average to 48 hour working week across shift patterns. Company Operational Hours: Monday: 7:00am - 7:00pm, Tuesday to Friday: 24-hour operation, Saturday: Rotational shift operation.
Salary and Benefits:
- £50,000 - £55,000 per annum

- IMI (Institute of the Motor Industry) Heavy Vehicle qualifications
- Apprenticeship in HGV / Commercial Vehicle Maintenance
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English preferred
