About the Opportunity

Our client is a growing and forward-thinking IT and Cyber Security provider with an established presence across the UK and internationally. They work closely with businesses to understand their technology needs, provide honest and practical advice, and deliver reliable IT solutions. We are currently recruiting for an IT Project / Solutions Engineer to join their Solutions team in Swansea. This is a great opportunity for an experienced IT professional who wants to move beyond traditional IT support and develop their career across project delivery, technical solutions and client management.

The Role

As an IT Project / Solutions Engineer, you will work closely with clients and internal technical teams to deliver a range of IT projects and solutions. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing IT projects from initial requirements and planning through to successful implementation.
  • Working directly with clients to understand their business and technology requirements.
  • Helping to scope and develop appropriate IT solutions.
  • Coordinating internal technical teams, suppliers and third-party vendors.
  • Developing project plans, timelines, milestones and delivery objectives.
  • Managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Monitoring project progress, risks, issues and dependencies.
  • Acting as a key point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Keeping clients informed and ensuring expectations are effectively managed.
  • Coordinating hardware, software, infrastructure, networking and cloud technology implementations.
  • Supporting infrastructure upgrades, migrations and wider technology improvements.
  • Providing technical input and troubleshooting support where required.
  • Working alongside technical specialists to ensure solutions are implemented effectively.
  • Maintaining accurate project documentation and providing regular progress updates.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve client environments and recommending suitable solutions.
  • Taking ownership of projects from concept through to completion.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • 3+ years' experience in an IT Project, Solutions, Infrastructure or similar technology-focused role.
  • Experience working with larger or complex client environments.
  • Experience within an MSP or client-facing IT environment would be advantageous.
  • A strong understanding of IT infrastructure and how different technologies work together.
  • Hands-on knowledge across hardware, software, systems and networking.
  • Experience with servers, storage, network devices and Wi-Fi.
  • Experience monitoring, maintaining and troubleshooting IT infrastructure.
  • Microsoft 365 and Azure experience is preferred.
  • Good knowledge of Windows environments and Active Directory.
  • An understanding of networking, firewalls and cloud technologies.
  • Experience coordinating technical teams, suppliers or third parties.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Confidence dealing directly with clients and understanding their requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a practical, solutions-focused approach.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining attention to detail.

This role would suit someone who combines technical understanding with strong project and communication skills. You don't need to be a traditional Project Manager. We're particularly interested in candidates who have come from a technical IT, infrastructure, solutions or MSP background and have developed experience coordinating and delivering projects. You'll need to be comfortable speaking with clients, understanding their challenges and working with technical teams to deliver the right solution.
