A Residential Surveying Role Built Around Quality

If you're an experienced residential surveyor looking for a better work-life balance, a quality-focused workload and the opportunity to join a growing practice, this could be the role for you.

We are looking for a Residential Property Surveyor to join a growing, RICS-regulated practice and support its continued expansion across Northwich and the surrounding Cheshire area. This is a role where quality comes before quantity. You'll typically complete around 56 surveys per week, giving you the time to carry out thorough inspections, produce high-quality reports and build genuine relationships with your clients. There is also the opportunity to increase your workload and earnings if you want to, with additional work and bonus opportunities available.

The Role

You'll carry out residential inspections and RICS Level 1, 2 and 3 surveys across Cheshire, identifying defects, assessing risks and providing clients with clear, practical advice. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out detailed residential property inspections across Cheshire.
  • Producing your own professional reports using surveying software.
  • Identifying defects, building pathology and potential risks.
  • Providing clear advice on property condition, repairs and maintenance.
  • Explaining technical findings in a way clients can easily understand.
  • Managing your own diary and report turnaround times.
  • Building strong and trusted client relationships.
  • Working collaboratively with the wider team as the practice continues to grow.
  • Maintaining high professional and RICS standards.

The role is primarily field-based across Cheshire, with report writing completed from home. The successful candidate will also be required to attend the office for one afternoon each week to take part in the staff meeting.

About You

We're looking for someone who is technically capable, commercially aware and naturally good with people. You'll have:

  • AssocRICS, MRICS or FRICS membership, with AssocRICS being the minimum level required.
  • Solid experience in residential property surveying.
  • Strong knowledge of building pathology and residential defects.
  • Excellent written reporting skills.
  • Strong client-facing and communication skills.
  • A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel across Cheshire.
  • A relevant surveying qualification, RICS-accredited degree or appropriate professional experience may form part of your route to RICS membership.
  • A drone licence would be advantageous, but isn't essential. Training can be provided.

We're also interested in candidates with a strong and consistent background in property, whether that's through surveying, estate agency, property management, construction or a related discipline.

The Person

For us, the right fit isn't just about qualifications and technical ability. Personality, integrity and approach matter just as much. We're looking for someone who:

  • Takes pride in delivering honest, high-quality work.
  • Has strong integrity and puts the client first.
  • Is approachable and easy to talk to.
  • Can build rapport naturally with different types of clients.
  • Is confident without being overbearing.
  • Is comfortable explaining technical matters to non-technical people.
  • Has a positive, down-to-earth attitude.
  • Is motivated and enjoys taking on a challenge.
  • Takes ownership of their work and follows through on commitments.
  • Works well independently while enjoying being part of a growing team.

We're looking for someone who is genuinely interested in building their career within a growing surveying practice. We value commitment, consistency and people who want to become part of the team and contribute to its long-term success.

Why Join?

You'll be joining a business that is growing with purpose, without losing sight of what matters to its people. The practice is continuing to develop its presence across the region, creating opportunities for those who want to grow alongside it. Greater responsibility and leadership opportunities will develop naturally.
