Are you an experienced HGV Mechanic, HGV Fitter or Heavy Vehicle Technician looking for a permanent Monday-to-Friday position?
We are recruiting for an experienced HGV Mechanic / Fitter to join an established and busy operation in Wickford, Essex .
This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, inspection and repair of HGVs and commercial vehicles , ensuring vehicles are safe, reliable and roadworthy.
If you have strong mechanical knowledge, enjoy practical hands-on work and can confidently diagnose and repair HGVs, this could be an excellent opportunity.
The Role
As an HGV Mechanic / Fitter, your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out servicing, maintenance and mechanical repairs on HGVs and commercial vehicles
- Diagnosing mechanical faults and carrying out effective repairs
- Completing routine inspections and preventative maintenance
- Preparing vehicles for MOT testing
- Identifying and rectifying vehicle defects
- Replacing components and carrying out mechanical repairs as required
- Maintaining accurate records of servicing and repair work
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard
- Maintaining workshop tools and equipment
- Following all company health and safety procedures
About You
We are looking for someone with previous experience in an HGV or commercial vehicle maintenance environment.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience as an HGV Mechanic, HGV Fitter, HGV Technician, Heavy Vehicle Technician or similar
- Strong mechanical and practical fitting skills
- Experience working on HGVs or commercial vehicles
- Experience with MOT preparation
- Ideally, a Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or a related discipline
- The ability to diagnose faults and complete repairs independently
- A reliable and professional approach to work
- Good attention to detail and a strong focus on safety
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team
- HGV driving licence desirable but not essential
