We are currently recruiting for an Internal Sales Executive to join a well-established and growing business operating within the construction and fixings sector. This is a fast-paced and varied internal sales role focused on supporting customers, managing orders, driving repeat business, and ensuring smooth day-to-day account management across a busy sales office.
The successful candidate will ideally come from a fixings, fasteners, construction supplies, builders merchant, or industrial distribution background and will be comfortable dealing with contractors, suppliers, and trade customers on a daily basis. This position would suit somebody commercially minded who enjoys relationship-building, problem-solving, and working within a technical sales environment.
Key Responsibilities- Managing inbound sales enquiries via phone and email
- Processing customer orders accurately and efficiently
- Providing quotations, pricing, and product information
- Building and maintaining strong customer relationships
- Identifying opportunities to upsell and maximise account spend
- Supporting customers with technical product queries and sourcing solutions
- Managing and maintaining the sales inbox
- Confirming customer orders and delivery schedules
- Chasing suppliers and carriers regarding deliveries and shortages
- Resolving customer issues and ensuring high service levels
- Monitoring acknowledgements and supplier updates
- Liaising with internal teams to ensure smooth order fulfilment
- Supporting daily purchasing and stock ordering activities
- Assisting with supplier management and stock availability
- Checking freight charges and supplier invoices
- Helping source specialist or non-standard items for customers
- Working closely with the wider office and sales team
- Learning different customer accounts to support wider team coverage
- Maintaining accurate administration and sales records
- Supporting the business during busy trading periods
- Previous internal sales experience within construction supplies, fixings, fasteners, builders merchants, industrial distribution, or a similar sector
- Strong customer service and account management skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Confident handling multiple customer enquiries in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Commercially aware with a proactive approach
- Comfortable working with Microsoft Office and email systems
- Knowledge of fixings, anchors, fasteners, ironmongery, or construction products
- Experience with purchasing or stock control
- Experience working with trade customers or contractors
- ERP or stock management system experience
- Ability to source specialist or hard-to-find products
- Experience supporting sales growth and customer retention
