About Kamma
Kamma solves one of the messiest, riskiest parts of the UK housing market: property licensing. Regulations change constantly, fines are huge, and even senior public figures get caught out. We make compliance clear, accurate and effortless — turning a painful cost centre into a genuine commercial advantage.
Our platform is fast, flexible, and built to launch new products quickly as regulations shift. Enforcement is rising, rent repayment orders are doubling, and industry demand is accelerating. We already partner with major brands like Foxtons, JLL, Knight Frank, Chestertons and more — and new integrations are opening powerful routes for distribution and scale.
We automate the repetitive parts of compliance wherever we can and train the team on modern tooling, so people's time goes where judgement actually matters. You do not need to arrive an AI expert; curiosity and a willingness to learn are what count.
The timing is exceptional: strong foundations, clear momentum, and scaling fast towards Series B. You'll join a curious, ambitious team that values ownership, clarity and pace — with equity that reflects the impact you'll have.
The opportunity
If you see yourself as someone who builds and runs operations where mistakes are costly and standards never slip, this is a rare chance to run one end-to-end.
Our licence application service takes on the hard, time-consuming job of getting properties licensed for letting agents and landlords, and it is growing fast. The team that delivers it is remote and you will lead it from the UK. Think of it as running a small business within a business: you own quality, capacity, process and the customer experience of the service, from the point an application is invoiced and ready to start through to the licence being issued and uploaded into Kamma Suite. You keep optimising and redefining the processes that support the service as we scale it.
Our sales team drives growth; you make sure we can deliver it, and you have a say in what we commit to. You will work closely with our product team, so the way you want the operation to run shapes the tools we build.
What you will do
- Own the end-to-end delivery of every licence application, from invoiced and ready to start through to the licence being issued and uploaded into Kamma Suite.
- Own process design and optimisation: find the time sinks, remove them, and work with our Licensing Product Manager to shape the tools and automation that make the service slicker.
- Design and run the audit and quality assurance process that keeps every submission accurate and GDPR compliant, and own the outcome when something slips through.
- Lead, coach and develop our Licensing Applications Administrators, with regular check-ins that keep work moving across time zones.
- Own the team's SLAs and weekly and monthly KPIs, and step in early when they are at risk.
- Forecast capacity against upcoming licensing scheme launches and sales commitments, and plan the hiring and budget needed to meet them.
- Be our expert on how licensing requirements differ from council to council, keep the knowledge base up to date, and handle complex or escalated cases with customers and council officers.
- Partner with sales on what we can promise, push back constructively when commitments outstrip capacity, and step into live applications when volumes peak.
What you will bring
Essential
- 3 to 4+ years leading a team against SLAs and quality targets in a high-volume operation (hundreds of cases a month) where errors are costly, such as outsourced operations, shared services, compliance, claims, financial services or regulatory processing.
- A track record of owning and designing or improving processes and workflows, and measuring the result.
- Experience designing or running audit, quality assurance or quality control processes.
- The judgement and relationship skills to hold a clear line with colleagues, customers and council officers, and to stay calm during escalations.
- Quick to learn complex, rule-based regulation, and comfortable with ambiguity and shifting priorities: we are scaling, and the role will grow with the service.
- Strong relationship skills and the emotional intelligence to collaborate and build trust with colleagues, customers, and council officers, and to maintain clear boundaries when the operation needs protection.
Desirable, but not essential
- Experience in property licensing, lettings, property management or housing compliance.
- Experience working with UK local authorities, particularly their web portals.
- Experience managing a team in another country or time zone, ideally an offshore or outsourced team.
- Capacity forecasting or workforce planning experience.
- Experience partnering with product teams to shape process or tooling.
- Demonstrable experience using AI to make yourself or your team more productive and efficient, for example to prepare training materials, procedures and reports.
