Roles & Responsibilities For Materials Scientist:

  • Conduct laboratory work to synthesise and characterise inorganic compounds and related structures as part of your development as a Material Scientist.
  • Improve testing protocols, including equipment procurement and training colleagues in new methods.
  • Test the performance of polymeric and coating systems containing inorganic additives.
  • Engage with customers and prospective clients to understand their requirements and develop technical solutions that meet their needs.
  • Develop and refine structure property relationships for polymers and coatings incorporating inorganic materials.
  • Support the development of new materials and products, progressing formulations from laboratory scale to pilot-plant scale.
  • Assist with scaling up new or improved products to pilot and full manufacturing scale.

Qualifications And Experience Required For Materials Scientist:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Chemistry or Materials Science.
  • Working knowledge of materials characterisation, polymer testing, or synthetic chemistry applied in industry is highly desirable.
  • Confidence in working autonomously and managing third-party contract and technical customer relationships is advantageous.
