KalVista is a global pharmaceutical company dedicated to delivering life-changing oral therapies for individuals affected by rare diseases with significant unmet needs. The KalVista team discovered and developed EKTERLY—the first and only oral on-demand treatment for hereditary angioedema (HAE) —and continues to work closely with the global HAE community to improve treatment and care for this disease around the world.
EKTERLY (sebetralstat) is a novel plasma kallikrein inhibitor approved in the United States, European Union, United Kingdom, Switzerland and Australia for the treatment of acute attacks of hereditary angioedema (HAE) in people 12 years of age and older. EKTERLY is the first and only oral on-demand treatment for HAE, offering efficacious and safe treatment of attacks without the burden of injections.
About the role:
The Business manager represents KalVista in the communities we serve as we strive toward transforming the lives of those living with Rare Diseases. Playing an integral role in identifying and building collaborative relationships with all relevant healthcare professional stakeholders. They will embrace and execute commercial strategies built on a solid scientific foundation, enabling access for patients.
The Business manager must master brand messaging, targeting, and digital technology to deliver persuasive, high-impact customer experiences tailored to distinct user segments, whilst maintaining the highest ethical standards. They must become an expert on practices, delivery networks, regional patient journeys and patient populations within their territory.
Responsibilities:
- Validation of any existing customer information – development and implementation of key account business plans with focus on creating awareness of product and company.
- Building advocacy for product in identified key accounts, aligning plans with company strategy.
- Collaborates cross-functionally with colleagues to share insights on customer needs and market opportunities; working together towards more effective approaches to patient value creation.
- Maintains commitment to continuous improvement (embracing a growth mindset) as evidenced by insights gained/shared about geography, stakeholders, and customer needs through day-to-day experience.
- Familiarization with product, disease area, local funding policies and processes to ensure timely funding for new patients going on treatment.
- Development and ownership of local and regional routes to optimize patient access.
- Post launch: Ability to develop commercially viable local/ regional strategies /proposals to drive sales and patient access, whilst maintaining a strong revenue for company.
- Accurate and timely reporting of customer and business records, through company CRM system or equivalent, using all agreed company performance measures.
- Planning and organizing of customer promotional and educational meetings locally, post launch.
- Effective and accurate budget management.
- Regular effective communication, interaction with other UK team members: Other colleagues, general management / medical / marketing.
- Reporting and general admin – regular submission of reports and expenses in timely manner plus any ad hoc information sharing as required.
- Regular input of customer information and market intelligence into CRM or equivalent.
- Liaison with relevant agencies to format and develop national and local branded / non-branded support materials in line with overall UK strategy and global branding.
- Support with UK events/ congresses and digital marketing programs.
- Involvement with shaping future marketing plans for UK business growth and success.
Qualifications:
- Degree level of education.
- Scientific background preferred.
- Curious and results oriented with a scientifically driven mindset, motivated by changing the patient journey for the better.
- Experienced within rare diseases and launches of new solutions.
- High levels of curiosity to understand "the why" and timely execution towards serving rare disease patients.
- External impact focused and solution oriented agile team player.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in rare disease pharma account management and market access.
- Experience in marketing preferred.
- Fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment typical of a growing small pharmaceutical organization.
- Flexibility and adaptability required.
- Frequent UK travel, with occasional travel outside UK will be required.
