About the job
As a Business Intelligence SQL Developer at Kallidus, you will be responsible for designing, developing and managing business intelligence and analytics solutions for our products. You will build and maintain a data warehouse design to generate reports from our learning and performance management products.
In this role, you should have a background in data and business analysis, along with analytical and communication skills. You should understand key data concepts such as data security and data integrity, and have experience with dimensional modelling, star schema design and ETL processes.
Ultimately, you will enhance our business intelligence systems to help our customers make better decisions.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Design, build and deploy new and existing BI solutions
- Maintain and support data analytics platforms
- Writing, optimizing and troubleshooting SQL queries for data manipulation and retrieval
- Developing stored procedures and functions to encapsulate business logic and improve performance
- Ensuring data accuracy, consistency and security through appropriate validation, backup and recovery procedures
- Tuning SQL queries, creating indexes and implementing other performance optimization techniques
- Debugging and resolving issues with T-SQL and related SQL Server components
- Create tools to store data (e.g. OLAP cubes)
- Identifying and resolving database-related issues
- Collaborate with developers, analysts and stakeholders to integrate databases and systems
- Support the creation of visualizations and reports for requested projects
- Develop and update technical documentation
- Keeping up to date with the latest database technologies and best practices
Key Skills and Knowledge
The following skills and experience are essential:
- Experience as a BI Developer, Data Engineer or SQL Developer in an Agile environment
- Background in data warehouse design (e.g. dimensional modeling) and data mining
- In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework
- Familiarity with BI technologies (e.g. Microsoft Power BI, SAP Business Objects)
- Advanced knowledge of T-SQL for data manipulation and query optimization
- Proficiency in designing, developing and deploying SSIS packages
- Have a strong understanding of data security and multi-tenancy
- A problem-solving attitude with the ability to analyse and resolve complex data-related issues
- Clear and effective communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical audiences
- An academic qualification in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Must have an existing right of eligibility to work in the UK
Any of the following would be beneficial for this role:
- Knowledge of SQL Server with the ability to maintain and troubleshoot
- Knowledge of NoSQL databases
- Knowledge of Microsoft Azure data tools: Fabric, Data Factory, Data Lake
- Experience with PostgresSQL
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and services (Azure, AWS)
