The Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team and help manage, automate and continuously improve the platforms that underpin our applications and services. Working closely with Infrastructure and Development teams, you will be responsible for ensuring our platforms are secure, resilient, scalable and operationally effective. You will drive automation, improve platform reliability and support the efficient delivery of services into production. You will play a key role in managing and evolving our cloud infrastructure, CI/CD tooling, Infrastructure as Code and container platforms, helping to define platform standards and best practices across the organisation. We are looking for someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, takes ownership of critical services and platforms, and is confident sharing their expertise and challenging existing approaches when there is a better way to do things.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and evolve the platform infrastructure that underpins our applications and services.
  • Design, build and automate cloud infrastructure using Terraform and other Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technologies.
  • Manage Kubernetes clusters and associated platform services, including provisioning, configuration, monitoring, upgrades, troubleshooting and automation.
  • Develop and enhance CI/CD tooling and deployment pipelines using Azure DevOps or similar technologies.
  • Monitor and optimise platform performance, reliability, capacity and security, implementing improvements where needed.
  • Investigate and resolve complex infrastructure, platform and deployment-related incidents.
  • Develop, maintain and enhance automation and configuration management solutions using PowerShell, Bash, Chef and equivalent technologies.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on platform architecture, operational impact, security and risk.
  • Contribute to platform roadmaps, technology standards and modernisation initiatives.

Essential Skills & Experience

You will have strong hands-on DevOps and infrastructure engineering experience, alongside a good understanding of modern application development, deployment and operational practices. We would particularly like to hear from you if you have experience with:

  • Microsoft Azure infrastructure, platform services and automation.
  • Kubernetes administration and container orchestration.
  • Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Azure DevOps or other CI/CD tooling.
  • Administration and support of Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Infrastructure monitoring, performance optimisation and operational support.
  • Infrastructure security, vulnerability management and remediation.
  • Troubleshooting complex infrastructure, platform and application deployment issues.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Monitoring and observability tooling such as Grafana, Prometheus or equivalent technologies.
  • Configuration management and automation tooling such as Chef, Ansible or equivalent technologies.
  • PowerShell, Bash or similar scripting languages.
  • Networking, load balancing and application delivery technologies, including HAProxy.

Behaviours

  • Takes ownership of technical outcomes and delivers high-quality solutions.
  • Approaches problems analytically and methodically, balancing risk and practicality.
  • Works collaboratively and positively across teams to achieve shared objectives.
  • Communicates technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Seeks opportunities to automate, simplify and improve existing processes.
  • Explores and adopts emerging technologies, including AI-assisted tooling, to improve platform operations, automation and service delivery.

How to prepare for a job interview at Kallidus

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Kallidus uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
