The Vice President of Software Engineering – Fuel is a senior technology leadership role responsible for the strategy, delivery, and continuous evolution of Kalibrate’s fuel software platforms. Reporting into the SVP Pricing, the role owns engineering outcomes across fuel products, ensuring teams deliver secure, scalable, and high-quality SaaS solutions that meet customer needs and align with Kalibrate’s commercial and product strategy. The role combines technology leadership, people leadership, and execution discipline, operating at both strategic and operational levels.

- Ensuring engineering capability scales in line with market demand and product ambition

- Managing technical risk and operating costs while supporting innovation
- Providing confident, credible technology leadership within the Senior Leadership team
Profile:
- Set and own the engineering vision and strategy for Kalibrate’s fuel products
- Lead multiple engineering teams, ensuring consistent delivery standards and practices
- Partner with Product leadership to translate roadmap priorities into executable delivery plans
- Build and maintain engineering capability across platform, data, and application development
- Operate effective governance over technical debt, security, and quality
- Contribute to architecture decisions as a key member of Kalibrate’s Technical Leadership Committee
- Champion modern engineering practices including CI/CD, automated testing, and cloud native design
- Set and execute a clear technical roadmap for AI-driven product and engineering transformation, ensuring measurable impact on customer value and engineering productivity
- Drive the responsible adoption of AI assisted development and productivity tools to improve throughput, code quality, and developer effectiveness
- Ensure engineering decisions support scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability
- Support recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and development of senior department leaders
- Represent engineering perspectives in senior leadership discussions and planning
- Own and manage the Software Development function budget, ensuring investment aligns with strategic priorities, delivery goals, and operational efficiency
Required Skills and Experience:
- Senior leadership experience within a commercial SaaS or product led software environment
- A strong and informed point of view on how AI is reshaping software engineering, with a track record of proactively driving adoption and transforming delivery models to unlock meaningful gains in productivity and quality.
- Experience operating across strategy and execution, with accountability for outcomes
- Strong communicator able to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders both internally and externally
- Demonstrated ability to build aligned, high performing teams across disciplines and locations
Technical and Delivery Background:
- Experience with modern service oriented or microservices architectures
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms and architectures (IAAS / PAAS) – preferably Microsoft Azure
- Familiarity with data intensive systems and analytics driven applications
- Deep appreciation of software quality, reliability, and operational performance
- Practical understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and secure delivery practices
