Responsibilities
- Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
- Load and unload goods
- Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
- Oversee vehicle condition and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
- Perform brake adjustments
- Perform emergency roadside repairs
- Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
- Perform preventive maintenance
- Receive and relay information to central dispatch
- Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
- Tarp and ensure safety and security of cargo
Qualifications and Certifications
- Driver's licence (Class 1 or A)
- Valid driver's licence (must be able to drive manual transmission vehicle)
- Willing to travel for extended periods, including overnight
- Physical capability: able to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
- Organized, reliable, team‑player, hardworking
Experience and Documentation
- Experience in transportation/travel (national or regional) is an asset
- Knowledge of accident or incident reports, inspection reports (pre-trip, en‑route, post-trip) and trip reports
