Reporting to: Packaging Manager
My client is looking for a Packaging Technologist to join our fast-paced manufacturing team, supporting own-brand and private label NPD from concept to launch.
You will take the lead on packaging development for mid to high complexity projects ensuring packaging is robust, cost-effective, and delivered on time and right first time. Working closely with suppliers, production, and NPD teams, you will manage specifications, colour matching, artwork, testing and launch execution across materials including plastics and glass.
Key responsibilities of a Packaging Technologist:
- Develop and deliver packaging solutions for NPD projects in a manufacturing environment
- Brief and manage suppliers on component specs, tooling, artwork, and testing
- Coordinate colour matching, cutter guides, and spec approval
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation (NLFs, pallet plans, specs)
- Attend production trials and first production runs to ensure packaging quality
- Track and communicate project progress, risks and priorities clearly
- Support Packaging Coordinators and contribute to continuous improvement
What you will bring:
- Proven experience in packaging development, ideally in FMCG or manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of plastic and glass components and related production processes
- Confidence managing multiple projects and working cross-functionally
- Hands-on, detail-focused and solutions-oriented approach
- Manufacturing experience is an advantage
- A proactive mindset with the ability to prioritise in a fast-moving environment
