Main purpose of role & level in the business: In Kainos Defence we work with clients across the MOD, Armed Forces and the Defence Industrial Base. We represent and deliver the breadth of Kainos services including Data and AI, Cloud Platforms, bespoke software development and more.
As a Defence Consultant Lead, you will lead delivery of projects from inception to completion, from smaller strategic engagements to large scale transformational delivery. You will have strong experience in assessing client business challenges, developing solutions and implementing a range of business changes enabled by technology. Strong consulting skills are essential, supported by applied knowledge of digital trends and agile delivery methods.
You will lead initiatives with stakeholders and your account leadership team to nurture and grow existing accounts and identify and develop new opportunities. Acting as a visible leader within the organisation, you will help to grow, nurture and develop new talent through mentoring and thought leadership.
Responsibilities will include:
- Leading analysis of client business challenges, developing solutions across business operations and technology capability
- Leading Kainos/client joint teams to develop business transformation roadmaps
- Leading Kainos delivery teams to refine and inform service and product transformation
- Leading specific client areas for the Kainos Defence team in identifying, qualifying and converting new opportunities
Minimum (essential) requirements:
- A desire to work on some of the most complex and ambitious programmes focused on keeping our country safe
- Experience working within Defence sector or similar
- Sole British National holding current SC clearance, with willingness to apply for DV
- Comfortable with significant travel and on-site working (up to 4 days per week)
- Extensive hands-on experience of Business Analysis and Consulting
- Experience in rapidly understanding client problems to propose effective, feasible solutions
- Strong stakeholder communication, management and relationship building at all levels from graduates to the C-suite
- Core consulting experience (analysis, project management, business case development, communicating with impact, workshop facilitation, project management, stakeholder management)
- Excellent commercial awareness and a proven ability to identify and develop new business opportunities demonstrable experience in pre-sales activities
Desirable:
- Hands on experience in a senior business role e.g. operations management, IT services, data and information, finance
- Hands on experience in a digital services discipline such as service design, product management, technical architecture, software development
- Experience of agile delivery methods across business and technology change
