K.A.G. Recruitment is partnering exclusively with a leading UK food retailer in their search to find a Specification Technologist to join their team based in Leeds (LS10).

Salary: Up to £33,000

Location: Leeds (LS10)

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm (flexible)

Reporting to: Quality Manager

The Role

As Specification Technologist, you'll be responsible for producing and maintaining accurate customer specifications, ensuring products meet retailer, legal and internal quality standards. Working closely with Technical, NPD, Commercial and Production teams, you'll play a key role in supporting new product launches and maintaining compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce and maintain customer specifications and retailer documentation.
  • Ensure specifications are approved ahead of product launches.
  • Prepare nutritional information, ingredient declarations and product labels.
  • Keep specifications compliant with current food legislation.
  • Support artwork approvals and quality attribute documentation.
  • Maintain raw material specifications, supplier approvals and technical records.

About You

  • Previous specification writing experience within food manufacturing.
  • Experience using retailer specification systems.
  • Knowledge of BRCGS Food Safety requirements.
  • Strong Microsoft Office and IT skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • HACCP Level 3 qualification desirable.
  • Experience within chilled or short shelf-life food manufacturing desirable, but not essential.
