K.A.G. Recruitment Consultancy are delighted to be partnering exclusively with our client, a leading Food Manufacturer, in their search for an Environmental Officer to join their company based in Wrexham.
Salary: £40,000
Location: Wrexham
Hours: Monday to Friday - 08.00 - 16.30 (Occasional travel required in the West Midlands to our sister company)
Purpose of the role: You will be responsible for overseeing the Environmental Performance of the site, ensuring that the treatment plant is operating efficiently and effectively whilst ensuring compliance with the Environmental Permit and that reporting deadlines are met.
Duties:
- Supporting and delivering a sustainability plan for the site and monitoring environmental performance against Permit requirements and Environmental Legislation
- Audit, analyse and report on environmental performance (ISO 14001) to internal and external clients and regulatory bodies as required such as NRW, local authorities and public bodies
- Manage the site's Climate Change Agreement (CCA) data and ensure the annual claim is submitted
- Responsible for process change management procedures to ensure site compliance in line with NRW permit conditions
- Coordinate all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation and renewable energy
- Promote and raise awareness, at all levels of the organisation, of the impact of emerging environmental issues
- Implement best practice in areas of corporate, ethical, and social responsibility and address any issues arising
- Prepare reports for the company, environmental agencies, and government bodies
- Carry out and submit all weekly, monthly, bi-annual, and annual reports and paperwork in accordance with company standard
- Develop and implement environmental management systems
- Audit, analyse and report environmental performance to management and regulatory bodies
- Support occupational health and the HR team on wellbeing initiatives
- Assist in providing a structured programme of Environmental training throughout the Company
You will have previous experience working within a Food Manufacturing environment, ideally FMCG and exposure to Lean Manufacturing or CI techniques with relevant qualifications in this remit. You will be an excellent communicator who can demonstrate initiative, self-drive, and possess excellent attention to detail, with a passion for excellence in environmental procedures and structure. Knowledge of working with ISO 14001 system or other compliance systems such as ISO 45001 or 50001 would be highly advantageous along with IEMA Qualifications.
