This is a key leadership role in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment where engineering performance directly impacts production. You'll be trusted to lead the function, shape the strategy, and raise standards across the board. This isn't a firefighting role. It's a chance to take control of how a site runs.

What you'll be responsible for:

  • Leading all maintenance activity across site, with a clear focus on reliability and uptime
  • Building and delivering a strong PPM strategy that reduces unplanned downtime
  • Managing and developing a team of Engineering Shift Managers and engineers
  • Driving performance through KPIs like downtime, MTBF, MTTR, and PPM completion
  • Implementing root cause analysis and fixing recurring issues properly
  • Overseeing all maintenance delivery including fault finding, repairs, and upgrades
  • Managing CMMS systems, maintenance records, and spare parts effectively
  • Ensuring Health & Safety, food safety, and audit standards are consistently met
  • Working closely with Production and other teams to keep the site running smoothly
  • Leading continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and operations

What matters in this role:

  • You've led maintenance in a Manufacturing environment, ideally FMCG or food
  • You understand how to balance planned vs reactive maintenance
  • You're comfortable using data to drive decisions and improvements
  • You can lead a team, set standards, and hold people accountable
  • You know how to operate in a regulated, high-compliance environment
  • You're organised, practical, and able to prioritise in a fast-moving site

What you'll bring:

  • Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering qualification (BTEC, City & Guilds or equivalent)
  • Strong Leadership and a continuous improvement mindset
  • Strong Health & Safety knowledge (IOSH or NEBOSH preferred)
  • Experience with CMMS systems and maintenance planning
  • Solid understanding of engineering principles and technical drawings

Desirable:

  • Experience with food processing or packaging equipment
  • Background in projects, budgets, or capital investment
  • Experience driving change and improving site performance

What's on offer:

  • 25 days holiday + 8 bank holidays
  • 4x life assurance
  • Pension (3% employer / 5% employee)

K.A.G. Recruitment Consultancy is partnering with our client on this opportunity. We're looking for someone who wants to take ownership, improve how things are done, and make a visible impact on site performance. If you're ready for that step, apply now.
