Based at the Devonport Dockyard, we carry anti-corrosion protection to surfaces by way of preparation, abrasive blasting and re-preserve by applying various paint systems. We are recruiting for an Industrial Blaster Painter for KAEFER Ltd at Devonport, Plymouth.

Key Responsibilities

  • To maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  • Carry out their role in accordance with company’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Weekend work & overtime may be required as per the business need.
  • Predominantly blasting warships and submarines in preparation for painting teams to complete their services (Some painting may be required).
  • Surface Preparation – all forms of preparation including hand and mechanical; candidates should also know the fundamentals of blasting to assist with the blast set up if required.
  • Have a thorough insight into methods of surface treatment and application of protective coatings.
  • Health and Safety – site aspects detailing the painters / blaster requirements to meet H&S regulations.
  • Access Plant and Equipment – including scaffold and mobile platforms.
  • Coating Types – all types of paint from single to two pack, holding primers to high build.
  • Application Types – all forms of paint application including brushing, rolling and should also know the spray fundamentals so they can assist in the set up if required.
  • Quality Control – to understand the reasoning behind quality control and the ways in which we take readings (wet/dry film thickness, environmental readings).

  • Experience of working in Oil and Gas.
  • Ability to follow instruction due to changes in workload demand.
  • Proactively contributes to the team.
  • Is self-aware, optimistic and has a collaborative approach to working with others.
  • Shows moral courage, openness and honesty in all dealings.

Requirements of role:

  • Train the Painter Silver or Gold minimum.
  • Must have experience in Coatings, Blasting or Spraying.
  • Blasting: 1 year (essential).
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Permanent full-time contract (38 hours).
