The Opportunity
We are looking for a Site Welding Inspector to join our team at HPC on a temporary basis (12 weeks from Monday 19th January 2026). This role is mainly located at the Hinkley Point C Bulk Equipment Storage facility at Junction 24 of the M5 Near Bridgewater, Somerset but there will also be occasional work to be undertaken on the Hinkley Point C construction site itself.
Reporting to KAEFER’s Quality Manager based at our Manufacturing facility in the North East of England, the individual in this role should be capable of working independently/remotely from their direct line manager whilst also providing daily updates on progress against pre‑agreed targets.
How you will make an impact:
- Managing the implementation of inspection tasks that need to be completed on each given day in conjunction with representatives who will be presenting the work for inspection.
- Conduct welding inspections of manufactured products to determine whether products meet the standards specified in the contract being undertaken (Inspectors must be qualified, certified and competent in accordance with a recognised national body (CSWIP 3.1 minimum) to perform this work).
- Non‑Destructive Examination (NDE) of manufactured products to determine whether products meet the standards specified in the contract being undertaken (Inspectors must be qualified, certified and competent in accordance with a recognised body, usually BiNDT, to perform this work).
- Writing up reports to confirm pass/fail of a manufactured product.
- Identifying defects and marking‑up products as well as collating failure mode data (failure types) and investigating root cause/s of failure modes to seek solutions for continuous improvement.
- Excellent communicator. This role will involve direct interaction with our customers’ quality representatives and as such you must be able to represent the company professionally, including liaison with 3rd party inspectors, and be able to demonstrate compliance to required inspection standards.
- Maintaining high standards of safety including but not limited to adherence to risk assessments, PPE standards, and housekeeping standards.
What you will bring:
- BiNDT Dye Penetrant inspection experience.
- Existing induction valid for work at Hinkley Point C.
- Flexibility to commence in this role on 19th January for 12 weeks (2 weeks working then one weekend off up to a 12 week period).
