Are you a Building Manager who takes ownership of the day-to-day operation of a technically complex life sciences building in central London? Due to the departure of a colleague, we are looking for a new Building Manager for our Mayde location in King’s Cross, part of the London Knowledge Quarter. Kadans owns and operates a purpose-built life sciences building combining GMP manufacturing, laboratory and office space. The building supports organisations working in regulated and research intensive environments, where reliability, safety and continuity are critical.

As Building Manager, you are responsible for ensuring the building performs as intended and supports tenants in their daily operations. You are a visible presence on site and play a central role in keeping the building running smoothly. In this role, the focus is on operational building management. You work closely with tenants, suppliers and internal teams, combining day-to-day operations with fit-out activities and the ongoing optimisation of the building.

Responsibilities:
  • You are responsible for the operational management of the building, including hard and soft services.
  • You manage external service providers such as security, cleaning, reception and logistics, and monitor performance against agreed KPIs.
  • You act as the operational point of contact for tenants and support the commercial team during and after the leasing phase.
  • You work with development and tenant fit out teams to support fit out works within the building.
  • You line manage the laboratory manager on site and support the daily operation of shared laboratory facilities, including gases and waste streams.
  • You monitor the building management system and ensure timely follow up on faults, alerts and irregularities.
  • You ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and attend tenant meetings where required.

The role is fully based on site at Mayde in King’s Cross, London. Mayde is a technically advanced life sciences building with GMP facilities, laboratories and office space under one roof. The building includes central gas systems, dedicated plant, advanced air handling and 24-hour on-site security. Close collaboration with tenants operating in regulated and research intensive environments is a key part of the role. The position sits within the property management team and reports directly to the Senior Operations Lead. Daily on-site presence and a high level of operational involvement are required.

Kadans Science Partner develops, owns and operates specialised real estate for organisations active in Life Sciences and Health, Agri and Food, Chemistry and Energy, and High Tech Systems and Materials. Across Europe, we deliver technically advanced buildings that form part of established science clusters. Our portfolio includes laboratories, GMP facilities, research space and offices designed to support research, innovation and long-term growth. Within our buildings and clusters, organisations of different sizes work alongside each other. This enables collaboration and access to talent, research and capital. Kadans works in long term partnership with its tenants, with a strong focus on quality, reliability and operational continuity.
