Established 2011, K9 Protection Ltd are an SIA Approved Contractor providing security services across South Wales. We are recruiting a qualified Security Dog Handler with a suitably trained dog and appropriate vehicle for a construction site in the Newport (NP20) area. The project is at a critical stage and requires proactive, professional perimeter security. The contract is expected to run until at least June and may continue beyond. This is a PAYE position. Please only apply if you are prepared to work within the PAYE system. Agencies & Subcontractors need not reach out. Five years’ verifiable vetting history is required prior to commencement.
The Candidate
- Hold a valid SIA licence
- Hold a minimum Level 2 qualification in Security Dog Handling
- Provide evidence of continuation training for both handler and dog
- Be capable of completing clear written notes and incident reports
- Be confident liaising with the client in English or Welsh
- You will be reliable, punctual, smartly turned out, and have a positive attitude to work.
You must
- Have a suitable vehicle with kennels suitable to the size of your dog.
- You will live within a reasonable vicinity of the site – there is no option for parking on‑site when off‑duty.
- Be prepared to actively patrol throughout the shift.
Your Dog
- Be experienced in perimeter security environments
- Be confident, controlled and responsive
- React appropriately to intruders
- Be well‑managed around a residential area (bark when required, not constantly)
The Role
The role is protecting a construction project at a critical phase in development, proactively patrolling in order to prevent intrusion to the site from criminals.
Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off rolling pattern, 1700‑0700 each day.
Duties include
- Digital patrol logging via company site phone
- Lone worker compliance
- Liaising with the client each shift regarding emerging vulnerabilities
Salary & Benefits
- £16.20 per hour minimum
- £17.20 per hour providing KPIs relating to punctuality and patrol management are met
- Accrue holiday pay at 12.07%
- Be enrolled into the workplace pension scheme
- Be fully covered under company insurance
