This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and passionate dog lover to work in the dog daycare industry. We are a premier pet service company and a leading supplier of dog daycare, home boarding and training services in the Whitstable, Herne Bay, Faversham and Canterbury area.
Vacancy description:
This role will be varied and will include all aspects of working with groups of dogs in a busy Dog Daycare Centre in all weathers and conditions.
Only applications with genuine experience working with dogs will be considered.
You job role will include the following tasks:
- Walking and exercising the dogs in all weathers.
- Shampooing/washing the dogs after each walk.
- Ensuring any dog waste is picked up immediately.
- Being vigilant in supervising their care & well-being at all times.
- General cleaning duties of the working environment.
- To provide cover in the dog daycare centre when needed.
- Cleaning and sanitation of dog equipment and vehicles.
Requirements and desired skills:
- Confident in handling and controlling dogs off and on lead on a group dog walk.
- Motivated with a positive attitude to work.
- Team player, with good communication skills.
- Honest, reliable, trustworthy and well presented.
- Able to walk and control several strong dogs on lead.
- Willing to listen and learn and follow instructions.
- Experience in walking large dogs/groups would be beneficial.
- Past experience working in a dog daycare or kennel environment.
Reality check
- You\โll be picking up dog mess while walking your group of dogs
- You\โll be walking a lot in bad weather, as well as good weather
- It can be physically tiring, so you\โll need to be fit and able to walk miles
- After walking dogs, they need to then be wash before going home
- We are outside in all weathers, so you\โll get wet and muddy
Working week: Tuesday and Thursday mornings 8.30am to 12.30pm = 8 hours per week with the option of extra hours during busy periods.
Salary: You will be paid the appropriate rate for your experience and age.
Trial period: Part of the interview process includes applicants completing at least two trial/taster days working with the dogs before being selected for the job. This gives a chance to experience different dogs, the routine and team dynamics.
