A Top 100 Main Contractor with a strong track record of delivering high-quality projects across East of England is looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its growing commercial team. Operating across a diverse range of sectors including education, healthcare, leisure, commercial, mixed-use and public sector projects, the business is continuing to expand and is now opening a new office in Essex.
The role:
This is a key opportunity to play a pivotal role in the growth of the business, supporting the commercial function during the establishment of a new regional office. Reporting to the Regional Commercial Manager, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of projects from procurement through to final account.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the procurement and management of subcontract packages
- Managing subcontractor accounts and valuations
- Ensuring projects are delivered within budget and in line with contractual obligations
- Identifying and managing commercial risks
- Preparing and presenting monthly cost/value reports
- Building strong relationships with project teams, clients, and stakeholders
- Supporting project delivery through effective commercial control
The Candidate:
This role would suit:
- An experienced Quantity Surveyor looking to step up into a Senior role, or
- An established Senior Quantity Surveyor seeking a new challenge within a growing contractor
You will be commercially aware, proactive, and confident in managing your own projects.
Desirable Experience:
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor
- Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field
- Strong understanding of construction contracts (e.g. JCT)
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
