The role will be both office and site based providing advice to others on how to work without harming themselves or others. Technicians will work with management and delivery teams to advise on the statutory health, safety and environmental requirements as they affect the company’s operations. They will assist the management team in ensuring that the legal and company SHE requirements are implemented.

For this Thames Water scheme, duties may include:

  • Develop, review, and execute safe systems of work.
  • Create and deliver training packages (e.g., toolbox talks & inductions).
  • Investigate and report incidents in the workplace.
  • Analyse data and present findings to the management team.
  • Undertake site visits to construction sites to check on site safety standards.
  • Review and approve risk assessments and method statements.
  • Enforce health and safety requirements.
  • Identify hazards and implement solutions.
  • Planning emergency procedures.
  • Adhering to environmental and safety laws.
  • Implement health and safety standards such as ISO 45001.

Typical Working Week: 40 hours p/w with start time typically between 07:00 & 08:00 inclusive of paid 8 hours at college.

Qualifications required/desirable:

  • Minimum Requirements: English and Maths at GCSE Grade 3 / D or above, or Functional Skills at Level 1 or above.
  • Desired Requirements: The passion and commitment to work in water treatment. It will be advantageous if you already have previous related work experience and a SHEA Card, but certainly not essential.

Key Training/College Information: K10 will enrol you to the Level 3 Safety, Health & Environment Technician course and fund your qualifications through an accredited training provider. The apprenticeship duration is 24 months.

Eligibility: To start this apprenticeship, you’ll need to be:

  • Must have access to their own vehicle.
  • Must have had a full UK driver’s license for more than 6 months.
  • Living in England for the last 3 years and have right to work status.
  • Not enrolled on any other courses.
  • 18+ due to site H&S rules.
