About The Role
The Thames Water Shared Apprenticeship Scheme is looking for an Apprentice Health & Safety Technician. The role will mainly be based in Aldermaston but will require occasional travel to sites within the Thames Water area.
The role involves both office and site work, providing advice on safe working practices to prevent harm to oneself and others. Technicians will collaborate with management and delivery teams to ensure compliance with statutory health, safety, and environmental requirements, supporting the implementation of legal and company SHE standards. Duties include:
- Developing, reviewing, and implementing safe systems of work.
- Creating and delivering training sessions (e.g., toolbox talks & inductions).
- Investigating and reporting workplace incidents.
- Analyzing data and presenting findings to management.
- Conducting site visits to assess safety standards.
- Reviewing and approving risk assessments and method statements.
- Enforcing health and safety regulations.
- Identifying hazards and implementing corrective measures.
- Planning emergency procedures.
- Ensuring compliance with environmental and safety legislation.
- Implementing health and safety standards such as ISO 45001.
Typical Working Week
40 hours per week, with start times typically between 07:00 and 08:00, including paid time at college.

Key Training/College Information
K10 will enroll you in the Level 3 Safety, Health & Environment Technician course, funded through an accredited provider.
The apprenticeship lasts 24 months.
To qualify, you must:
- Have lived in England for the past 3 years and have the right to work.
- Not be enrolled in other courses.
- Be 18 or older due to site health & safety regulations.
- Possess a full UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
