The Thames Water Shared Apprenticeship Scheme is looking for an Apprentice in the [Location] area. This apprenticeship is part of The Thames Water Shared Apprenticeship Scheme and is a programme sponsored by Thames Water to address the skills gaps within their supply chain. The scheme features a compulsory industry rotation to enable apprentices to get experience in different environments and boost the chances of further employment in the sector.

Administrators, sometimes known in construction settings as Document Control officers, need a broad range of skills to work efficiently and to help increase business productivity. The role involves the following duties:

  • Using content management systems to maintain internal databases
  • Organising and storing paperwork, documents and computer-based information
  • Devising and maintaining office systems
  • Booking rooms, attending meetings, taking minutes and keeping notes
  • Managing and maintaining budgets, as well as invoicing
  • Liaising with staff in other departments and with external contacts
  • Ordering and maintaining stationery and equipment
  • Sorting and distributing incoming post and organising and sending outgoing post
  • Photocopying and printing various documents, sometimes on behalf of other colleagues
  • Organising and delivering site inductions
  • Collecting and storing health & safety documentation
  • Using a variety of software packages, such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, to produce correspondence and documents and maintain presentations, records, spreadsheets and databases

This role involves prolonged periods of desk-based work, computer use, and telephone communication within an office environment.

Typical Working Week: 40 hours per week with a start time typically between 07:00 and 08:00, inclusive of 8 paid hours at college.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; enjoys working with multiple teams
  • Ability to analyse and interpret information and effectively communicate this to different team members and audiences
  • Ability to travel freely across our area to visit different sites and attend training days
  • Curiosity to learn quickly in a reactive and dynamic working environment
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions to serve customers and protect the environment
  • Able to understand and follow health and safety protocols

Minimum Requirements: English and Maths at GCSE Grade 3 or above, or Functional Skills at Level 1 or above.

Desired Requirements: Previous related work experience and confidence in using ICT and Microsoft Office.

Key Training / College Information: K10 will enrol you in the Level 3 Business Administration course and fund your qualifications through an accredited training provider. The apprenticeship duration is 18 months with an additional 3 months for the End Point Assessment.

  • Living in England for the last 3 years and have right to work status
  • Not enrolled on any other courses
  • 18+ years old due to site health and safety rules
  • Full UK driving licence
