Job Description
Quantity Surveyors operate specialised equipment, ensure data accuracy, and perform cost assessments.
Surveyors also process information, review tenders, and collaborate with other construction professionals.
Strong technical skills and attention to detail are crucial for success in this role.
Duties typically include
- Take accurate financial information related to construction projects.
- Control of costs during a construction project.
- Producing take-offs for building plans.
- Communicate with clients and colleagues to exchange financial construction-related information.
- Understand and ensure legal and regulatory compliance is followed.
- Administrate and analyse contracts, timesheets, tenders, pre‑qualifying questionnaires, and price lists.
- Perform cost assessments, measurements, or valuations using research-derived data.
- Assist senior managers with the legal and contractual issues on a construction project.
- Recording, control and reporting of income and expenditure on a construction project.
As well as completing the Level 3 Surveying Technician diploma, all apprentices will be admitted as a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Typical Work Week
40 hours per week with start time typically between 07:00 and 08:00 inclusive of paid 8 hours at college.
