Construction Quantity Surveying Technician Apprenticeship

Job Description

Quantity Surveyors operate specialised equipment, ensure data accuracy, and perform cost assessments.

Surveyors also process information, review tenders, and collaborate with other construction professionals.

Strong technical skills and attention to detail are crucial for success in this role.

Duties typically include

  • Take accurate financial information related to construction projects.
  • Control of costs during a construction project.
  • Producing take-offs for building plans.
  • Communicate with clients and colleagues to exchange financial construction-related information.
  • Understand and ensure legal and regulatory compliance is followed.
  • Administrate and analyse contracts, timesheets, tenders, pre‑qualifying questionnaires, and price lists.
  • Perform cost assessments, measurements, or valuations using research-derived data.
  • Assist senior managers with the legal and contractual issues on a construction project.
  • Recording, control and reporting of income and expenditure on a construction project.

As well as completing the Level 3 Surveying Technician diploma, all apprentices will be admitted as a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Typical Work Week

40 hours per week with start time typically between 07:00 and 08:00 inclusive of paid 8 hours at college.

  • A love of variety in a role and ability to adapt to a dynamic, fast‑paced working environment.
  • Ability to quickly prioritise tasks and the initiative to dive head‑first into problem solving.
  • No two days are the same on the front line and not every day goes to plan, so you’ll need to be quick on your feet to respond.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills and enjoy working with multiple teams.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret information and effectively communicate this to different team members and audiences.
  • Ability to travel freely across our patch to visit different sites and travel to training days.
  • Curiosity to learn quickly in a reactive and dynamic working environment.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions to serve our customers and protect the environment.
  • Able to understand and follow health and safety protocols.
  • You must live in the London Borough of Haringey.

English and Maths at GCSE Grade 3 or above, or Functional Skills at Level 1 or above.
