The Thames Water Shared Apprenticeship Scheme is looking for an Apprentice Civil Engineer. The role will mainly be based in Dartford with travel to other sites in and around London.

Duties:

  • Support civil engineering projects by creating and modifying engineering diagrams, documents, and specifications, following industry standards.
  • Assist in developing engineering solutions by collecting and analysing technical data and using digital tools such as CAD, BIM, and Revit.
  • Prioritise safety by adhering to health and safety guidelines, identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and policies, including environmental and sustainability measures.
  • Manage project quality, budget, and targets using available systems while maintaining data security.
  • Communicate effectively with project teams, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Work both independently and as part of a team, taking responsibility for tasks.
  • Promote equality, diversity, and ethical standards.
  • Continuously learn and develop skills in line with professional codes and industry standards.

Typical Working Week: 40 hours per week with a start time typically between 07:00 and 08:00 inclusive of paid 8 hours at college.

  • Ability to quickly prioritise tasks and the initiative to dive head‑first into problem solving.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills and enjoy working with multiple teams.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret information and effectively communicate this to different team members and audiences.
  • Curiosity to learn quickly in a reactive and dynamic working environment.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions to serve customers and protect the environment.
  • Able to understand and follow health and safety protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Requirements: English and Maths at GCSE Grade 4 or above, or Functional Skills at Level 2 or above.
  • Desired Requirements: Some previous related work experience or completion of a Level 2 Engineering qualification would be an advantage.

Training: K10 will enrol you in the Level 3 Civil Engineering course and fund your qualifications through an accredited training provider. The apprenticeship duration is 36 months.

Eligibility: Living in England for the last 3 years and have right to work status. Not enrolled on any other courses. 18+ due to site H&S rules. Have a full UK Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle.
