International Students House is a unique student centre providing accommodation, social and support services to UK and international students in London. The role is mainly based at the Reception desk, with cross training in Reservations. Working hours are on two shifts: Early 07.45 - 15.30 and Late shift 15.15 – 23.00.
A Receptionist should ensure all guests are provided with an efficient and welcoming service. A friendly, well-presented and helpful individual is needed for this position who can work well under pressure, and demonstrate good numeracy and excellent customer service and communication skills.
Specific Duties:- To provide a friendly welcome and efficient customer service over the phone and to guests and visitors at the Desk and manage the Receptionist email inbox.
- To answer residents’ queries regarding bills, departure date, vacation periods, room moves, etc.
- To carry out reception duties including check-ins and check-outs, billing, reports, hire out equipment, sell sundry items and process any payments.
- To be responsible for a cash float, ensuring all financial procedures are adhered to.
- To be knowledgeable of the ISH reservations system, respond to accommodation requests and make reservations for short stay residents (individuals and group bookings).
- To show bedrooms and facilities to prospective residents and representatives from schools/agencies as required.
- To work in close liaison with Accommodation office, Duty Managers, Housekeeping, Conference, Car Park & Maintenance staff.
- To issue contractor passes and radios and keep accurate records on sign in sheets.
- To manage lost property and parcels.
- To assist reservations as and when needed, including managing the accommodation inbox on weekends and evenings.
- To provide training for new staff / cross training for colleagues.
- To carry out any other reasonable request.
The shift pattern is working 6 days followed by 3 days off, alternating weeks of early and late shifts, averaging a 34 hour working week. It will be necessary to work some Bank Holidays, for which either overtime or an alternate day off is given.
Salary/Benefits:Salary: £21,410 p.a. (£20,261 p.a. pre-probation). These rates are exclusive of an autumn pay rise.
- Meal Allowance: A £2.75 food allowance per shift is given for use in the ISH Catering facilities.
- Holiday entitlement: Holiday entitlement is 20 working days per annum, rising at the rate of 1 extra day for each year worked, up to a maximum of 25 days.
- Travel Loan: After the probationary period an interest free loan is available for an annual travel card.
- Pension: ISH has a contributory defined benefits pension scheme (SAUL - Superannuation Arrangements of the University of London). Employee contribution is 6% of salary. Employer contribution is 16%.
- Health Cover: Inclusion in a company sponsored health cash plan after successful completion of probation.
