We are recruiting for a growing accountancy and business advisory practice seeking an Assistant Client Manager to join its experienced accounts team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Senior Accountant looking to take the next step, or an experienced Assistant Manager seeking a people-focused firm with strong progression opportunities. The role will involve managing a varied portfolio of clients, building strong relationships, supporting the delivery of high-quality accountancy services and helping to lead and develop junior team members. The position is well suited to someone who enjoys working closely with owner-managed businesses, providing practical advice and contributing to the continued growth of a forward-thinking accountancy practice.
Responsibilities
- Manage a diverse portfolio of clients, including owner-managed businesses
- Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, providing support and advice
- Oversee the preparation of accounts, tax returns and associated compliance work
- Review work prepared by junior members of the accounts team
- Work closely with directors and senior managers to deliver a high-quality client service
- Support clients with queries relating to accounts, tax and business advisory matters
- Coordinate workflow across the team to ensure deadlines are met
- Coach, mentor and develop junior team members
- Identify opportunities to support clients with additional services
- Assist with client retention and contribute to new client relationships
- Work collaboratively with other departments to provide a joined-up service
Requirements
- ACA or ACCA qualified
- Previous experience working within an accountancy practice
- Experience as a Senior Accountant, Assistant Manager or similar role
- Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation and tax compliance
- Experience managing a portfolio of clients
- Confident working with owner-managed businesses and SMEs
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to review work and support junior team members
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage deadlines
- Comfortable using cloud accounting software and accountancy systems
- Knowledge of CCH would be advantageous
- Positive, collaborative and proactive approach
