We are recruiting for an experienced and detail-oriented R&D Tax Manager to join a well-established accountancy practice with a strong presence across the UK and Ireland. This is a remote-based role, supporting a varied portfolio of clients across Great Britain and working closely with senior tax professionals and junior team members.
The successful candidate will oversee the full R&D tax relief claim process, from initial client engagement through to final submission. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical knowledge, excellent report writing skills, and the confidence to manage client relationships, team workflows, and HMRC enquiries.
- Manage a portfolio of R&D tax relief clients from inception through to review and submission
- Oversee the full claims process, including information gathering, technical assessment, report preparation, and final submission
- Lead and support junior staff throughout the R&D claim process
- Deliver educational seminars and client presentations, either in person or via video call
- Handle HMRC enquiries relating to R&D claims
- Keep up to date with relevant R&D tax legislation, guidance, and case law
- Support business development activity and identify opportunities to grow client relationships
- Assist with the training, mentoring, and development of junior team members
Demonstrable experience working within R&D tax relief. Strong understanding of HMRC R&D tax criteria, legislation, and relevant case law. Previous experience managing a portfolio of clients within an accountancy or tax advisory environment. Excellent report writing and technical documentation skills. Ability to review technical reports and ensure high-quality standards are maintained. Relevant tax, accountancy, or professional qualification desirable, such as ATT, CTA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent experience.
