We are recruiting for a forward-thinking accountancy and business advisory practice seeking a Senior Accountant to join its experienced accounts team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a nearly qualified or newly qualified accountant looking to develop their career within a supportive and fast-paced practice environment.
The role will involve working closely with managers and directors to deliver high-quality accounts, tax and advisory services to a varied client portfolio, including owner-managed businesses.
The position would suit an ambitious and client-focused individual who enjoys building relationships, providing practical advice and supporting the development of junior team members.
Responsibilities
- Prepare year-end financial statements for a varied portfolio of clients
- Calculate corporation tax and personal tax liabilities
- Support clients with tax planning ideas and accounting process improvements
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients
- Act as a key point of contact for client queries
- Work closely with managers and directors to deliver a high standard of client service
- Support the overall delivery of accounts, tax and advisory services
- Liaise with other departments to ensure clients receive joined-up advice
- Review and support work prepared by junior team members where required
- Coach, mentor and develop accounts trainees
- Assist clients with cloud accounting systems and digital processes
- Manage deadlines and ensure work is completed accurately and efficiently
- Develop a strong understanding of clients’ businesses to provide tailored advice
Requirements
- Nearly ACA or ACCA qualified, or newly qualified
- Previous experience working within an accountancy practice
- Strong experience preparing accounts for owner-managed businesses and SMEs
- Good understanding of corporation tax and personal tax compliance
- Comfortable working directly with clients and building long-term relationships
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to support and develop junior members of staff
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage deadlines
- Tech‑savvy with experience using accounting software and cloud systems
- Knowledge of CCH would be advantageous
- Positive, proactive and collaborative approach
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering excellent client service
