We are recruiting for a growing accountancy and business advisory practice seeking an Assistant Client Manager to join its experienced accounts team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Senior Accountant looking to take the next step, or an experienced Assistant Manager seeking a people-focused firm with strong progression opportunities. The role will involve managing a varied portfolio of clients, building strong relationships, supporting the delivery of high-quality accountancy services and helping to lead and develop junior team members. The position is well suited to someone who enjoys working closely with owner-managed businesses, providing practical advice and contributing to the continued growth of a forward-thinking accountancy practice.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of clients, including owner-managed businesses
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients, providing support and advice
  • Oversee the preparation of accounts, tax returns and associated compliance work
  • Review work prepared by junior members of the accounts team
  • Work closely with directors and senior managers to deliver a high-quality client service
  • Support clients with queries relating to accounts, tax and business advisory matters
  • Coordinate workflow across the team to ensure deadlines are met
  • Coach, mentor and develop junior team members
  • Identify opportunities to support clients with additional services
  • Assist with client retention and contribute to new client relationships
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to provide a joined-up service

Requirements

  • ACA or ACCA qualified
  • Previous experience working within an accountancy practice
  • Experience as a Senior Accountant, Assistant Manager or similar role
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation and tax compliance
  • Experience managing a portfolio of clients
  • Confident working with owner-managed businesses and SMEs
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to review work and support junior team members
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage deadlines
  • Comfortable using cloud accounting software and accountancy systems
  • Knowledge of CCH would be advantageous
  • Positive, collaborative and proactive approach
