This role will see you into IT Management with real career progression and opportunity for IT Technical Training. This is an OFFICE BASED ROLE - Monday to Friday in the office. We're looking for a hands-on Windows Infrastructure Engineer to join a team of 8 looking after around 350 users. The company turnover is over 100 Million for 2026. You'll take ownership of Windows Server and Network Infrastructure while working across a genuinely varied portfolio of projects including Hypervisor Refreshes and Network upgrades to Cyber Security accreditation and ERP support. This is a third line role acting as number two to the IT Manager offering the opportunity to grow into that role. Training and support to develop the skills you don't yet have will be provided. We particularly welcome applicants with a Microsoft-focused background from a Managed Service Provider (MSP), given the breadth and pace of the environment.
What You'll Be Working On:
- Server migration: Upgrading our estate from Windows Server 2019 to Windows Server 2025
- Hypervisor refresh: A Hyper-V refresh project including a 3-node storage clustering setup, Disaster Recovery, and Veeam backup
- Door access card project: Rolling out a new physical access control system
- Endpoint management: Company-wide rollout of ManageEngine Endpoint Central across circa 350 users
- Manufacturing network reconfiguration: Migrating the production plant network away from Windows Server 2016, with a full network security upgrade to Server 2025
- Cyber Essentials: Working towards Cyber Essentials new accreditation, including a course and securing devices across the business
- Thin client replacement: Rolling out IGEL (or similar) thin clients across the business
- Conditional access & security: Developing our conditional access and endpoint security posture, including wider rollout of Microsoft Defender
- ERP support: Supporting the ERP Manager through a major ERP implementation
- Server builds: Building new application servers, including some Linux servers for the production line
- Longer term: Contributing to our evolving cloud strategy as the business grows
What We're Looking For:
Essential Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with Hyper-V and server build/deployment
- Experience with MS Windows 11 and Windows Server (2019-2025)
- Experience configuring and administering server virtualisation technologies
- Experience implementing and supporting Microsoft 365
- Experience managing an enterprise backup solution (Veeam)
- Solid Active Directory and Microsoft core services knowledge
- Group Policy, DNS, DHCP
- Mobile Device Management experience (Intune)
- Endpoint protection experience (Microsoft Defender)
- LAN and WAN troubleshooting, including routing and switching configuration
Desirable
- HND/degree in a relevant discipline, or relevant professional qualifications
- Background with a Managed Service Provider (MSP)
- Experience with performance monitoring technologies
- Apple iPhone and iPad device management experience
- Understanding of VPN and experience with SonicWALL devices
- Experience configuring Teams Telephony
