JWB Recruitment are proud to be recruiting for a Pipe Fitter in Portsmouth.

We’re recruiting a skilled Pipefitter to join a long-established mechanical & electrical contractor with over 20 years’ continuous work at Portsmouth Dockyard. The business delivers high-quality M&E installation projects across Hampshire, including hospitals, MOD sites, commercial buildings, and industrial facilities.

This is a permanent role focused on plant room installation, steam and boiler pipework, and high-integrity mechanical systems within the dockyard. You’ll be part of a stable, experienced team working on major infrastructure projects with long-term continuity.

Hours: 7:00am – 4:00pm, Monday–Friday

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, assemble, and secure pipework systems within plant rooms and mechanical spaces
  • Work on boilers, steam pipework, heating systems, and associated mechanical plant
  • Carry out welding, brazing, bolting, and mechanical fixing to a high standard
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and pipework schematics
  • Ensure all installations meet MOD, site safety, and industry compliance standards
  • Collaborate with mechanical and electrical teams on wider project delivery
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with supervisors and project managers

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Pipefitter in industrial, commercial, or MOD environments
  • Strong skills in plant room installation, steam systems, and boiler pipework
  • Competent in welding and mechanical assembly
  • Ability to work safely in high-security, high-compliance environments
  • Must be able to obtain MOD clearance (existing clearance beneficial)
  • Strong work ethic and reliability—consistent early starts required
  • Full right to work in the UK

  • £38,000 – £44,000 basic salary (experience dependent)
