An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a our Engineering Team at JW Lees Brewery.
This hands-on role in a fast-paced production environment involves carrying out reactive and planned preventative maintenance across brewing, packaging, and site services equipment, while supporting site performance, reliability, and continuous improvement.
Working as part of a small team with site-wide responsibility, the successful candidate will be a practical problem solver with strong fault-finding skills, able to work independently and collaboratively, and committed to maintaining high standards within a business that values engineering expertise and long-term development.

The Role & Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance across brewing, packaging and production equipment.
- Respond quickly and effectively to equipment breakdowns to minimise downtime.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on pumps, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, valves, pipework and production machinery.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve plant reliability and operational efficiency.
- Assist with fabrication, welding and installation work when required.
- Work closely with production teams to maintain safe and efficient operations across site.
- Maintain high engineering and housekeeping standards at all times.
- The Person
- Previous experience within a brewery, food, beverage or manufacturing environment is desirable.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and breakdown maintenance experience.
- Experience with pumps, pneumatics, conveyors, valves and process equipment.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- A proactive approach with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-moving production environment.
- Recognised engineering qualification or recognised apprenticeship.
Desirable skills and experience
- NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering Maintenance.
- Recognised time-served engineering apprenticeship.
- HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering advantageous.
- IOSH or relevant Health & Safety training.
- Experience within FMCG, brewing or automated manufacturing environments.
