Location: Edgbaston Birmingham / Flexible Working

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Accountant to join our growing team. This role will involve managing a portfolio of clients and delivering high-quality accounts and related services, while supporting junior team members as required. You will work closely with Managers and Partners to ensure assignments are completed accurately, efficiently and to a high professional standard. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, excellent organisational skills and the confidence to deal directly with clients in a professional and approachable manner.

The Role

  • Managing a portfolio of clients including limited companies, sole traders and partnerships.
  • Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts in accordance with UK GAAP and FRS 102/FRS 105.
  • Preparing management accounts where required.
  • Reviewing bookkeeping work and assisting junior team members with technical queries.
  • Acting as a day-to-day point of contact for clients and responding to queries in a timely manner.
  • Reviewing VAT returns and supporting corporation tax compliance processes.
  • Ensuring assignments are completed accurately and within agreed timescales.
  • Maintaining up-to-date technical knowledge and ensuring compliance with current accounting standards.
  • Assisting with ad-hoc assignments and projects as required.

Requirements

  • ACA / ACCA qualified (or qualified by experience).
  • Proven experience within an accountancy practice environment.
  • Experience managing a portfolio of clients.
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK accounting standards.
  • Experience reviewing accounts preparation work.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, including Excel.
  • Experience in the medical sector would be advantageous but not essential.
