About the role:
A welcoming primary school near Yeadon is seeking a dedicated SEND Primary Support Assistant to join their team from September 2026. This long-term role is ideal for someone with a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs, particularly those with autism and ADHD. The school offers a warm, inclusive environment and is open to full-time or part-time/job-share arrangements for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored SEND support - Work closely with pupils to deliver personalised, structured support that meets their individual needs.
- Support children with autism and ADHD - Use specialist strategies to help pupils regulate, engage and thrive in the classroom.
- Assist with learning activities - Support the class teacher in delivering accessible, engaging learning experiences.
- Promote positive behaviour - Encourage emotional regulation, independence and confidence through consistent, nurturing guidance.
- Work collaboratively with staff - Communicate effectively with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals.
- Contribute to pupil progress - Help monitor and record progress to support ongoing assessment and planning.
Pre-requisites:
- Experience working with SEND pupils, ideally within a primary setting.
- Specialist understanding of autism, ADHD, and related support strategies.
- Patience, resilience and a nurturing approach to behaviour and learning.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.
