About the role:
A welcoming SEND school in Spalding is seeking a creative and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team on a full-time, with the view of a permanent basis from September. This role has a strong focus on Music and Drama, supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs to express themselves, build confidence, and engage in learning through the arts.
The school provides a supportive, structured environment where pupils are encouraged to develop academically, socially, and emotionally through tailored and creative approaches.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging Music and Drama sessions, adapting activities to meet the individual needs of pupils with SEND.
- Lead small group interventions and whole-class sessions under the guidance of teaching staff.
- Use creative approaches, including performance, rhythm, movement, and role play, to support communication, confidence, and emotional expression.
- Provide classroom cover where required, ensuring lessons continue smoothly and effectively.
- Support pupils’ social and emotional development, using calm and consistent strategies to encourage participation and positive behaviour.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to create inclusive and engaging learning experiences.
Pre-requisites:
- HLTA status or equivalent experience supporting teaching and learning at a higher level.
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND.
- A passion for Music, Drama, or performing arts, with confidence in delivering creative sessions.
- Strong understanding of how to adapt activities to support a wide range of needs.
- Excellent communication skills, patience, and a flexible, proactive approach.
