About the role:
Justteachers is seeking a full-time Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in the Spalding area starting in September 2026 on a long-term, temporary basis.
The setting supports pupils with a range of complex special educational needs, including severe learning difficulties, autism, communication needs and associated medical or physical needs. The school provides a highly structured and supportive environment, with a strong focus on individualised learning programmes aligned to EHCPs.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and support teams to deliver consistent, personalised support, helping pupils to develop independence, communication and life skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with complex needs
- Support the delivery of highly individualised learning programmes
- Assist with communication strategies such as PECS, visuals or sensory approaches
- Support pupils with emotional regulation and engagement in learning
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff
- Assist with personal care, mobility and medical needs where required
- Promote independence, routine and consistency throughout the school day
- Monitor and record pupil progress and behaviours
Pre-requisites:
- Experience supporting children or young people with complex SEN (school or care setting desirable)
- A calm, patient and resilient approach
- Understanding of communication and sensory-based support strategies
- Confidence supporting pupils with personal care needs
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Right to work in the UK
