About the role:
Justteachers is seeking a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in the St Ives area from September 2026 on a long-term basis.
The setting supports pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, learning difficulties, and associated communication needs. The provision offers a structured, supportive and therapeutic learning environment, with education tailored to each pupil’s individual needs and EHCP outcomes.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching and support staff to help pupils access learning, develop confidence and independence, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN
- Assist in the delivery of personalised learning activities and interventions
- Support pupils’ social, emotional and communication development
- Encourage engagement, independence and positive behaviour
- Implement EHCP targets and individual support strategies
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff
- Support pupils during transitions and throughout the school day
- Monitor and record pupil progress, wellbeing and engagement
Pre-requisites:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN (school, care or similar setting desirable)
- A patient, resilient and nurturing approach
- Understanding of autism, communication needs and behaviour support strategies
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to adapt support to meet individual pupil needs
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Right to work in the UK
