About the role:
Justteachers is seeking a full-time SEMH Teaching Assistant to join an alternative provision setting starting in September 2026 in the Peterborough area to cover on a long-term, temporary basis.
The setting supports pupils who are unable to access mainstream education, delivering structured provision focused on SEMH needs, behaviour support and re-engagement with learning through individual plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Implement behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques in line with provision expectations
- Work with teaching staff and pastoral teams to support engagement, emotional regulation and progress
Pre-requisites:
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent)
- Experience supporting pupils with SEMH or within an alternative provision setting
- Knowledge of behaviour management strategies, SEMH support approaches and safeguarding
- Two education or school-based references
