About the role:
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH provision in Rugby from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to support pupils who require additional emotional, social and behavioural support to achieve their full potential in a nurturing and structured learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and differentiated learning activities.
- Support pupils in developing emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement.
- Implement behaviour support plans and risk assessments effectively.
- Promote inclusion, wellbeing and independence throughout the school day.
- Monitor and record pupil progress and behaviour.
Pre-requisites:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs.
- Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, patient approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships and act as a positive role model.
- Relevant qualifications in education, childcare or youth work are desirable.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
