About the role:
A friendly and inclusive SEND school in Louth is seeking a dedicated Support Learning Assistant to join their team. The school provides tailored support for children and young people across a range of age groups, focusing on developing academic skills, independence, and confidence.
Teaching is adapted to meet individual needs, with structured routines and a nurturing, engaging learning environment at the heart of the school's approach. This role offers flexibility, with both full-time and part-time opportunities available for an immediate start.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff to support the delivery of differentiated and accessible lessons, breaking down tasks and scaffolding learning.
- Reinforce key concepts to help pupils with SEND build confidence and actively engage with the curriculum.
- Use structured and supportive strategies, including visual aids, clear instructions, modelling, and hands-on activities, to encourage participation and maintain focus.
- Promote positive learning behaviours through calm and consistent support, helping pupils regulate emotions and re-engage with learning when needed.
Pre-requisites:
- Experience supporting children or young people in settings such as schools, tutoring, childcare, care work, or youth groups.
- A good understanding of special educational needs (SEND) and the ability to adapt support to meet individual learning requirements.
- Confidence using a range of teaching and learning approaches, including clear explanations, step-by-step modelling, and maintaining pupil engagement.
- Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 Teaching Assistant, Childcare, Youth Work, or equivalent practical experience are desirable.
