About the role:
Justteachers is seeking a full-time Behaviour Support Assistant to join a specialist provision in the Lincoln area starting in September 2026 on a long-term, temporary basis.
The setting supports pupils with a range of social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, where behaviours are closely linked to underlying additional learning and communication needs. The school provides a structured and supportive environment focused on consistency, routine and positive behaviour approaches.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting pupils to regulate their emotions, manage behaviours and re-engage with learning in a safe and supportive setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group behaviour support to pupils with SEMH needs
- Support the implementation of behaviour support plans and strategies
- Build positive, consistent relationships to encourage engagement and trust
- Support pupils with emotional regulation and coping strategies
- Respond to and de-escalate challenging behaviours using appropriate techniques
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and support teams
- Support during transitions and unstructured times of the school day
- Monitor and record behaviour, progress and interventions
Pre-requisites:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs (school, care or similar setting desirable)
- A calm, resilient and consistent approach to behaviour management
- Understanding that behaviour is communication and linked to underlying needs
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to remain patient and adaptable in challenging situations
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Right to work in the UK
