About the role:
We are looking for enthusiastic and knowledgeable GCSE English specialists to join a group of FE colleges across West Yorkshire from September 2026. A range of full-time and part-time positions are available, offering flexibility for experienced lecturers and those seeking to broaden their teaching portfolio. You will support learners resiting GCSE English or developing essential literacy skills needed for progression into further study, apprenticeships or employment.
Key Responsibilities:
- GCSE English Delivery - Deliver engaging and well-structured GCSE English lessons tailored to learners with varied abilities and confidence levels.
- Learner Support - Provide targeted intervention, constructive feedback and small-group support to help students achieve their goals.
- Assessment & Tracking - Monitor progress, maintain accurate records and contribute to departmental achievement targets across multiple campuses.
- Curriculum Collaboration - Work closely with English teams to refine schemes of work, share best practice and enhance learner experience.
- Safeguarding & Compliance - Ensure safeguarding, health and safety and college policies are upheld at all times.
Prerequisites:
- Subject Expertise - Degree in English, Linguistics or a related subject.
- Teaching Qualification - PGCE, QTS, QTLS or significant FE teaching experience.
- GCSE Teaching Experience - Experience teaching GCSE English, particularly resit cohorts, is highly desirable.
- Communication Skills - Strong ability to motivate learners and deliver clear, accessible content.
