About the role:
We are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive Primary School in Great Yarmouth who are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis from September.
This rewarding opportunity is ideal for an individual who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and making a positive impact on their educational journey. The successful candidate will provide dedicated support to two pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their individual goals within the classroom environment.

This role would suit someone with experience supporting children with SEN or an individual looking to further develop a career within special educational needs and education support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support to two pupils with SEN throughout the school day
- Support pupils' academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development
- Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual needs
- Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement effective support strategies
- Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in classroom activities
- Encourage independence, confidence, and positive engagement with learning
- Support communication, interaction, and emotional regulation where required
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
- Help maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
- Build strong and positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers
- Follow and contribute to individual education plans (IEPs), EHCP targets, and support programmes
- Promote the wellbeing and development of both pupils at all times
Pre-requisites:
- Previous experience working with children, ideally within a school or educational setting
- Experience supporting pupils with SEN, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or social, emotional and mental health needs, is highly desirable
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to build trusting and positive relationships with children
- A proactive and flexible attitude towards supporting learning and development
- The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school support team
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
- Two recent education-based references
