About the role:
Justteachers are working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Downham Market who are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis from September.
This exciting opportunity is ideal for an enthusiastic English specialist who is committed to developing students’ literacy skills, fostering a love of reading, and inspiring confidence in written and spoken communication. The successful candidate will deliver engaging and challenging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, creating a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students are encouraged to achieve their full potential.

This role would suit an experienced English Teacher or an Early Career Teacher (ECT) looking to develop their career within a collaborative and forward-thinking department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging and inspiring English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Teach both English Language and English Literature, promoting a love of reading and writing
- Encourage students to develop critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills
- Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that supports student achievement
- Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing constructive feedback to support development
- Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of students with varying abilities and learning styles
- Promote high standards of behaviour, engagement, and achievement
- Support students in developing both creative and academic writing skills
- Contribute to the development of the English curriculum and department initiatives
- Organise and contribute to literacy events, reading programmes, and enrichment opportunities where appropriate
- Build positive relationships with students, parents, carers, and colleagues
- Participate in school meetings, training, and professional development opportunities
- Promote safeguarding and student welfare at all times
- Uphold the school’s values and commitment to providing high-quality education for all learners
Pre-requisites:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
- Experience teaching English within a secondary school setting
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for English education
- The ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons that inspire and challenge students
- Excellent communication, organisational, and classroom management skills
- A commitment to achieving positive outcomes for all students
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team
- An enthusiastic, proactive, and reflective approach to teaching and learning
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
- Two recent education-based references
