About the role:
Justteachers is recruiting a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Birmingham on a full-time basis from September 2026. This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their individual goals within a supportive educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with Special Educational Needs.
- Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated learning activities.
- Support students with Autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, and communication needs.
- Encourage positive behaviour and promote emotional wellbeing.
- Help students develop independence, social skills, and confidence.
- Support pupils during classroom activities, break times, and educational visits.
- Monitor and record student progress and behaviour.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
Pre-requisites:
- Minimum Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patient, caring, and adaptable approach to supporting learners.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
- Commitment to supporting students to achieve their full potential.
